Some people say Android Tablets are dead, but what a better time to get a deal!
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 has 4GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 835 Processor, and a 10.5″ 2560×1600 AMOLED display. The screen quality is amazing, the pen works great, and even though the processor is a little dated, it’s still a very snappy device. Currently, the device is on sale for $499 at Best Buy, but if you sign up for Best Buy’s “Student Deals” you will get an “offer” attached to your account for an extra $100 off. This brings down the device down to $399! If you haven’t been to class in a while, don’t worry, student verification is NOT required to get this offer! You simply have to sign up for student deals!
If you were debating between the Galaxy Tab S4 and the Galaxy Tab S5e, look no further! I have owned both and can give you a quick run down.
In short:
- The Galaxy Tab S4 is about 10% faster than the Galaxy Tab S5e
- The Galaxy Tab S4 comes with a headphone jack and an S-Pen, something the Tab S5e lacks
- The Galaxy Tab S4 has a much faster GPU for gaming, and you should see between a 30 and 50% gaming performance increase on the Tab S4 vs the Tab S5e
- The Tab S4 and the Tab S5e are both on Android Pie
- The Tab S5e has two benefits that I see: it is much lighter than the Tab S4 and has smaller bezels
- Finally, the Tab S5e has one fatal flaw: If you have the device in landscape mode, and put your hand in the bottom left hand corner, you will lose anywhere between 20% (one bar) and 50% of wifi signal. This issue seems to be wide spread as I had this issue on 3 different devices. The issue has been reported on several tech sites but Samsung has not responded, for this reason, I recommend getting the Tab S4.
